Saving NAWT Bedfordshire
NAWT Bedfordshire (formerly HULA Animal Rescue) has been a lifeline for thousands of homeless animals, and it can continue to be for thousands more to come. But the rehoming centre needs a lifeline of its own right now, and we desperately need your help.
The current animal accommodation, most of which has been in place for the last 50 years, is slowly falling apart. Without significant investment to install new accommodation, the centre will reach a point where it is no longer able to help homeless and abandoned animals.
In July 2022, we embarked on the charity's biggest fundraising project in decades, to protect the long term future of this vital facility. Since taking on the site in 2016 to save it from closing down, we've been gradually building our charity reserves to invest in new animal accommodation. This has allowed us to ringfence £600,000 of existing charity funds for the project, but with total costs expected to reach £1.5m, we can't complete the project without your help.
Without additional funds, we will max out our existing reserves and the project will grind to a halt. It is therefore imperative that we continue to ask for your support and invite you to play a part in building the future NAWT Bedfordshire and a safe place for homeless animals to stay.

"The most important thing for the dogs is they are going to have an indoor area for sleeping and eating and they are going to also have access to an outside space. Sometimes, even if it’s raining and cold, a dog will prefer to be outside in the fresh air."
“It wasn’t great for the cats before. For example, the pens were facing one another, which can be very stressful if a nervous one comes in and is confronted by the sight of other felines. I remember one cat called Jet. He was a feral and spent a lot of his time hissing and growling. He really needed more space to help him adapt. It’ll be so much better for cats like Jet in the new buildings.”

Buy a Brick
Be a permanent part of the centre's history with a brick of your own that will be on display at our rehoming centre for the lifetime of the redevelopment. Your brick will be engraved with a message of your choosing, which might be a tribute to a loved one, a message of hope to the pets who will reside there, or a celebration of your own beloved pet. A two-line brick dedication costs £50 with opportunity to go up to four lines.

Help foster while we build our new centre
We had more than 55 unwanted dogs and cats on our waiting list at the start of this project and without the help of foster carers, that number will only increase. If you are local to the Milton Keynes area and are able to help with foster care, please call 01908 584000.
Fundraise
We have a Just Giving page set up to raise funds for the project, which allows our supporters to start fundraising on our behalf. Our first fundraiser raised a huge £1,085 by 'Braving the Shave' and asking her friends and family to sponsor her head shave! Fundraising is a great way to take on something fun, exciting or challenging whilst also raising vital funds and awareness of our project, and fundraising has consistently made a huge difference all across our charity for the last 50 years.
